Happy Friday
Here are a few drawings I've recently drawn in my sketchbook or scrap pieces of paper. I really like the look of the first pic. I took some pictures of myself making this goofy face and used it as reference. The second and third pics look weird because I was drawing in the dark using a tiny little flash light to help me see. Didn't want to disturb my wife's sleep. The fourth pic I was playing with some red ink. Then the pic of the gorilla looking thing is suppose to be Chewbacca but I didn't really like the way it was turning out but I still like it.

I recently got this book called "In the Studio: Visits With Contemporary Cartoonists" by Todd Hignite. It features interviews with nine cartoonist like R. crumb, Charles Burns, Seth, and Art Spiegelman to name a few. I've read a bit of it so far and I like it but I especially like how they show the work of other artists who have influence them. Very Awesome.

崖の上のポニョ

So I got to see Hayao Miyazaki's 'Ponyo' a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. Visually the animation was beautiful and at times creeped me out. The story was cute and more kid friendly than the last couple of films he's done. I usually like listening to foreign movies in their original dialogue but the dub was good. I thought Ponyo was nutty. She would at times turn from human form and then to a kind of poultry form. You gotta love the imagination these guys at Studio Ghibli have when it comes down to it.

Blur
The last couple of days I've been walking around blind as a bat. I broke my glasses but fortunately I can get a new pair this summer. woo hoo! I always thought I could do without wearing my glasses but now I feel naked not having them. I'm still going to Krazy glue this pair back together.

Vatos del gallo.
I suck at titles so I just used a line out of a beck song. Thought it was funny. I had a job interview yesterday but I don't think it went well. It's cool though. At least it's good practice. Other than that, I got up today in a very sketchy mood. I've been trying to draw with pencil lately since I almost always use a pen or ink. I was inspired by one of my doodles. It's in my last entry. I think it came out pretty cool. I'm really happy with it. I took some time to really see if I could get it right. I'm sure that it's not but I still love it. Let me in on what you think. Always glad to get some constructive criticism. ^-^
Sorry about the bad pic. I actually own a pair of socks like those. The bottom drawing was done earlier this year and just found it. Really like this one too.

This last pic is of my daughter with Fred the puppet. I love the look in her face. She looks annoyed. I'll see if she wants to make a movie again. I'll keep you posted.

Father's Day was 9 days ago, yo!
Father's Day was pretty cool. I got to spend a lot of time with my awesome family. My daughter is on summer vacation so this was my first week with her being home with me so I thought I should do something special. I made a puppet out of an old sweater of mine. We named him fred and we played, watched Inuyasha, drew, and build blocks with him. I also had an idea of making a little home movie with her and Fred about being in space. She wasn't having it. My wife got this app that turns her digital pics into polaroids. I have to say they look pretty neat. Here are some of the pics my wife took. Enjoy!

Here are a few sketches I did today and the last two are a drawing out of my sketchbook(skeleton dude) and a painting on canvas board which is a work in progress. ^-^

So I know I haven't been keeping up with my strip but I assure you that I am working on it and I will post them up soon. I've been a bit busy with some projects. So in the mean time I want to share some sketches I was working on today. ^-^

Sketchbook Madness!
Here are a few pages out of my sketchbook. I try and make it a habit to carry it with me all the time. I'm still a bit shy when it comes to drawing in public. I'm blind as it is so sometimes when I'm drawing someone I start to think they probably notice and that I'm some kind of creep who keeps looking their way. I try to be stealth like but my narrow eyes must give me away and plus it must not help that I look like a uni bomber (according to my wife). I can't draw girls or at least I don't like the way they come out, but nothing a little bit of practice can't help. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to leave me a comment.

Comic of the week #3
Sorry folks for the delay. Hope you didn't miss me much. I'm back and hope to keep bringing you my strips each week even if it's really crappy. That's the whole point anyway, right? To be able to make a strip, get some practice, and learn from my mistakes. So thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment. See you soon! ^-^

Comic of the Week #2
Sorry it's a day late. I had originally done a four panel strip but felt that it worked well without the last panel. Hope you enjoy and sorry for the crappy pic. Please feel free to put in your two cents. Gotta keep drawing!!!!!!

"I must not think bad thoughts. I must not think bad thoughts. I must not..."

I drew on the cover of an 'LA Weekly' at work while listening to DJ Krush.
I want a pair of Goldblum's glasses.
